The history of the department
In April 2004 (after the reorganization of the university) the Department of Design was opened at the technical department of Aktobe State University named after K. Zhubanov. The initiator by the opening of the department and the first head of the department was Sagimbaev Adilgali Abdigalievich, (specialty Design with specializations 050421.01– architectural design, 050421.02 – graphic design). He led the department from 2004 to 2010. From 2010 to 2018, the Department of Design was headed by Docent, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and the member of the Designers’ Union of Kazakhstan Momenov Boranbai Murzagalievich.
Since November 2018, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Docent Adilgali Abdigalievich Sagimbaev became the head of the department.
The development of two leading directions in the design field is focused on various stylistic directions – where the emphasis is on the most important aspects of design, and also special attention from teachers is paid to such peculiar features as the emphasis on national traditions.
National traditions of art, depending on the new directions of the subject or object, along with the authentic design solutions, contribute to enhancing it at a high creative level: that is, mastering methods of decorative ornament perfectly depending on the shape of the object or material and its processing technology, artistic plot value.
The educational process provides 12 teachers. The department has four teachers who have degrees, three members of the Designers’ Union, two members of the Artists’ Union of Kazakhstan and two members of the Eurasian Union of Designers.
In 2008, on May 21-22, the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference “Design – XXI Century: Technologies and Design Methods” was held by the Department “Design”. Scientists from Russia, Turkey and China took part in this scientific conference.
The 2nd International Scientific and Practical Online Conference ” Design: Technologies and Design Methods”. were held on October 25-26, 2018.
An active participant in online conferences was Orenburg State University. The conference published articles from Russia, Bashkortostan, Belarus, Karakalpakia, Tatarstan. Universities from different cities of Kazakhstan took part in this conference.
In 2017, the specialty 5B042100 – “Design” passed a specialized accreditation for a five-year term.
